A Lesson For Us All

The Power of Praise and Worship

Every day, the Momo family gathers together for praise and worship, lifting their voices to sing songs of thanksgiving and worship. On Wednesdays we, the "Mentor Team" get to witness their praise fill the atmosphere, and it’s hard not to feel moved by the energy and sincerity with which they thank God for what they have—often little in material terms but rich in spirit.

The Power of Praise in the Face of Adversity

The daily practice of thanksgiving, praise and worship isn't just a routine; their joy is a testimony to the power of faith. For many of us, it's easy to lose sight of gratitude when life feels difficult, but these precious children are being taught by James, Viola and the Momo Team of caregivers to have different perspective. They are learning (a lot quicker then many of us Westerners) that no matter the circumstances, there is always something to be thankful for, and that gratitude itself is a form of strength.

These children, despite their orphaned state, have shown the world that praise doesn’t have to be reserved for times of abundance. It’s even more significant in moments of scarcity. By lifting their voices in song, they are declaring that they trust in a higher power, that they believe in something beyond the suffering of their present circumstances. You can see it in their faces as well as their actions.  Their worship isn’t just a religious act; it's an act of defiance against the adversity they face. It’s a declaration that despite what’s been taken from them, there is always room for hope and joy.

A Lesson for Us All

When I look at these precious children, there’s a profound lesson for all of us. We live in a world where materialism often defines our happiness, and it's all too easy to measure our lives by what we have rather than by what we are grateful for. But the Momo children have discovered that gratitude transcends possessions.

They "show us" that thankfulness can be a pathway to joy, and that true peace is not found in external circumstances but within our own hearts. When we feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges—whether it's work stress, personal struggles, or the demands of modern living—perhaps we could all take a moment to reflect on the simple act of praise. Like these children, we might find that there is more power in a thankful heart than in any material possession.

Carlos' Tears ...

In that beautiful moment of surrender, we see Carlos' tears as more than just a release of emotion—they are a symbol of the Holy Spirit’s healing touch, a sign of divine care that wrapped around him like a warm embrace. Through his tears, there was a profound peace, as if the Spirit had whispered into his heart, You are not alone. I am here with you ... as He is with ALL God's children!

Hope for the Future

The Momo children are not only learning the power of faith and gratitude—they’re also embodying it. Through their example, they inspire people around the world to seek a deeper connection to their own faith and to remember the importance of thankfulness, no matter the circumstances.

Though their lives have been marked by tragedy, their joy and love for God remind us of the profound impact that praise and worship can have on our hearts. The Momo children are a living testament to the transformative power of faith, and they are an inspiration for all of us to live with more gratitude, even in the face of adversity.

Conclusion

As we reflect on the example set by these incredible children, let us take a moment to assess our own lives. Are we truly grateful for what we have? Are we finding moments of praise and worship, even in the hardest times? If these children can lift their hearts to God in such a beautiful, joyful way, surely we, too, can find ways to embrace gratitude and faith, regardless of the challenges we face.

In the end, the Momo children teach us that gratitude is not just a feeling—it’s a choice. A choice to praise, to be thankful, and to find joy in the midst of every circumstance. I pray their example inspire us all to cultivate a heart of worship and thanksgiving, no matter where we are in life.

With love and thanksgiving,
