Momo Moments

  My name is Ekaete Moses and I learned about Momo’s Children's Home through Sue and Jodianne on the Chasing Christ server in mid-2025. When I was first invited to the worship meeting, I saw adorable children from the youngest to the oldest with their hands lifted, often with their eyes closed, singing their hearts out to God. It was genuine worship that wasn’t concerned about who was watching them. I loved when some of the children would share a passage from the Bible and expound on it, revealing how they understood the scriptures in the context of their lives. My favorite was when the children would perform plays based on the different parables of Jesus from the gospels. Over the several months that I’ve worshipped with them and prayed with them. I saw when they were sick with malaria (Many of us take things like being able to get prescriptions or over the counter medications with ease for granted) and then updates when they were healed or when they were running out of food and w...

The Power of Praise and Worship Every day, the Momo family gathers together for praise and worship, lifting their voices to sing songs of thanksgiving and worship. On Wednesdays we, the "Mentor Team" get to witness their praise fill the atmosphere, and it’s hard not to feel moved by the energy and sincerity with which they thank God for what they have—often little in material terms but rich in spirit.  The Power of Praise in the Face of Adversity The daily practice of thanksgiving, praise and worship isn't just a routine; their joy is a testimony to the power of faith. For many of us, it's easy to lose sight of gratitude when life feels difficult, but these precious children are being taught by James, Viola and the Momo Team of caregivers to have different perspective. Virtual Family Gathering "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...” “...And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42 On Wednesdays at 10am CT we have a "virtual" family gathering (aka church). We're learning to put into practice how the early church did life together as they gathered together ... Teaching : Anchored in the apostles’ instruction, rooted in Christ’s resurrection and the Scriptures Fellowship (koinōnia) : Deep relational connection, not just social interaction Breaking of Bread : Likely both communion and shared meals Prayer : Corporate and personal, Spirit-led intercession Generosity : Selling possessions to meet needs (Acts 2:45) Unity : “All the believers were together and had everything in common” (Acts 2:44) Joy and Worship : “Glad and sincere hearts, praising God” (Acts 2:46–47) Praying for Uncle James Worshiping Jesus Receiving their Bibles!  ...

Finding Family.   A Life Changing Experience by "Aunt Jodianne"  After looking over the vetting report from Africa Missions and seeing this is real, the Holy Spirit placed a heaviness on my heart all evening long. I remember I kept looking at the children ...  the outside latrine the dirt floor in which they had to eat the scarce bit of food that they had  They also had to sleep on that dirt floor as they have no "real" beds. I remember noticing that many had no shoes on their tiny feet.  Well, needless to say The Holy Spirit did not let me rest that evening.  The next day I remember messaging Sue, the leader of our Mentoring Team who has been working tirelessly for these precious children & the whole caregiver team. Sue has been discipling James since October of 2024.  I expressed to her that The Holy Spirit placed this family heavily upon my heart.
