2025 Year in Review: From Vetting to Vision

The Journey of Momo Children’s Home

As we reflect on 2025, we see a story of "faith in action." It is a year that proved that when transparency meets compassion, lives are changed forever ... thanks to all of YOU.

The Timeline of Transformation
January – March: The Search for Truth
The mission began with a commitment to integrity. In January and February, Maama Sue contacted Bethel 360, Africa Missions, and other potential partners to coordinate an in person vetting meeting.  On March 28, 2025, two friends joined her in raising the needed funds to send two pastors from Africa Missions to verify James and the children's situation on the ground. Their confirmation was the green light we needed to move forward.
The Launch: Sharing the Story
Once the facts were verified, the work of building a ministry began. Maama Sue created a 3-minute video for our new website, capturing the heart of our story. Once that video was complete Maama Sue and Mentor Team (Aunt Jodianne, Uncle Fer, Uncle Ben, Aunt Steffi) began to share our story with YOU, our new family and friends.

Building an Operation "Above Reproach"
From the beginning, Maama Sue told us everything we do must be above reproach and working toward fulfilling our calling.
MISSION and VISION:  To provide a safe, nurturing and Christ-centered home for orphaned and other vulnerable children in Uganda, equipping them through education, discipleship and love for a life of purpose and service.  Furthermore, this mission extends outward, equipping James, the Team of Caregivers and the children to become leaders who help and equip others facing similar challenges across Uganda.
To ensure every dollar was honored and every child properly registered and accounted for Maama Sue built a "turn-key" operation for us from the ground up:
  • Organizational Identity: Creating the name "Momo Children's Home," designing the logo, slogan, mission statement, website (www.MomoChildrensHome.org) and Momo Moments Blog (https://momochildrenshome.blogspot.com/).
  • Radical Transparency: Establishing financial policies, an income/expense ledger, and detailed profiles for every child and team member.

Miracles of 2025: Living & Spiritual Growth
Your response to the story was overwhelming. Together, look what the Lord has done!!!
  • A Six Week Miracle!   Moving from food shortages and open-pit toilets to a new home with indoor toilets, new clothes, and new shoes.
  • Spiritual Growth:
    • We began live weekly online gatherings last Easter on Wednesdays and continue to this day.   Holy Spirit is truly working in their lives.   Growth is so noticeable - a lesson for us all ... spiritually, in confidence and hope, the children's English, and in "making disciples who make other disciples".
    • Local Spiritual Leadership: In August, spiritual oversight transitioned to Pastor Emmanuel with Jesus Forever Ministry, a local church plant just one mile from the home.
    • 12 Baptized November 1, 2025 ... No pond, lake, river or bathtub was readily available, so we rented a portable pool from a local establishment.
  • Malaria and lessons on God's faithfulness through life's trials - Trusting through the storms.
  • Official Recognition: On November 18, 2025, Momo Children’s Home officially received its Certificate of Incorporation.

The 2026 Roadmap: Stability & Legal Growth

As we enter the new year, we are moving from "Rescue" to "Resilience." Our goals for 2026 are clear:
  • NGO Transition (7,550,000 UGX / ~$2,083 USD): Meeting government requirements to move from incorporated status to a full Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) requires  securing 3 months of rent and providing every child with a proper bed (frames, mattresses, and bedding).
  • The Essentials Reserve ($6,000): Building a 3-month reserve to guarantee food, housing, medical care, and clothing for the children regardless of economic shifts.
  • Urgent Admin Help Need.   Please help us find a USA based Fiscal Sponsor to collect and distribute back to Momo Children's Home our donations.   This could be a church or a Christian ministry.    (This would make your donations tax deductible over our current situation and one off personal option.)
Thank You: To the mentors, the prayer warriors, and the donors ... YOU are a big reason these children have a future. You saw the story, you trusted the process, you answered the call, and you changed a life.
