A Surprise That Overflowed With Love

This week’s Virtual Family Gathering (aka Cell Group) on Wednesday, August 13 became a moment I’ll carry for a lifetime. 

I thought today we would be our usual weekly Virtual Family Gathering (i.e. Cell Group).  Every Wednesday Jodianne, Steffi, Ben and myself meet with James, Team and the children for a time of encouragement, song, prayer, scripture and teaching.  Today, however, the children prepared a tremendous surprise - one that left me humbled, tearful, and deeply grateful.

One by one, they stepped forward holding handmade birthday cards. Each child had written their own words of appreciation and then read them aloud to me. Their voices were steady yet full of emotion.  (And, how wonderful to see their English improving so much!!)

Some said words I will never forget:

“I don’t have anything to give you, but I want to tell you how much I appreciate and love you, maama Sue.”

If they only could comprehend that love they expressed so freely is the most priceless gift of all.
