 Meet the Children
(part 3)

Akankwasa Calvin

Atongire Carlos

Calvin and Carlos were brought to MCH by their mother Olivia after she experienced domestic violence from their father.  Calvin's father was abusive and drunk everyday and he failed to care for Calvin, Carlos and their siblings Michelle and Cryton.   Olivia is James' biological sister and MCH's House Parent - Girls.    (Read more about Olivia and her children's story here)

Hassan Wasswa Mulumba

Namakula Rahuma

Rahuma and Hassan's father was a hard working man who was a boda boda rider - a common type of motorcycle or bicycle taxi.   One day in September, their father went to work but he never came back. Their mother tried to call him, but the phone was turned off. The next morning, they found his body dumped in a busy swampy area covered with glass. The body had sharp wounds and blood.  He was murdered and his motorcycle was taken by thieves. Their mother began to struggle to take care of her children.  She went to Momo's Children's Home to ask for help and a place for her children to stay.   In her childhood, Rahuma had a dream of having a happy family. Every day she prayed for God to give her that happy family ... that day came when they were accepted into the Momo Children's Home family.

MCH MISSION STATEMENT:  To provide a safe, nurturing and Christ-centered home for orphaned and other vulnerable children (OVC) in Uganda, equipping them through education, discipleship, and love for a life of purpose and service. Furthermore, this mission extends outward, equipping James, the team, and the children to become leaders who help and equip others facing similar challenges across Uganda.

APRIL UPDATE

PRAISE GOD!!
We have recently been given a grant from Christian Ministry Alliance to complete the registration of Momo Children's Home as a Family Based Care CBO (Community Based Organization).     We will be pursuing fiscal sponsorship with them once the registration is complete and MCH can get a bank account opened up.   THANK YOU Doug and the team at Christian Ministry Alliance; we are so grateful!!

PRAYERS PLEASE
The grant money was given to us to meet the government requirements of above ground beds, 3 months rent (showing stable housing) and filing fees.    I (Sue) will allocate the funds accordingly.  Please pray that James and team can figure out a way to get materials donated or purchased at a greatly reduced cost to build the beds themselves so we can also put some money toward a food reserve.  In addition, that they can complete the 16 items given to us from the local CDO (Community Development Officer) to complete the registration in a timely manner.

GETTING OVER THE HUMP
The constant "crisis" and road block we've faced this past year is having to put all your generous donations toward meeting essential needs.  We're still faced with that dilemma; currently their electricity and water have been turned off, rent is due and the food will be gone - again - the end of the week.   Thankfully, once MCH is registered as a CBO they will have some access to government grants and relief organizations aid.     In addition, registration will help their credibility as a valid organization AND having Christian Ministry Alliance our fiscal sponsor means tax deductible receipts.

Please spread the story.
