As soon as you can James, write up what all happened, what the inspector(s) did, looked for, asked about, etc. AND confirm ... did we pass inspection? Is Momo an official CBO??? 🙂
[3:19 PM, 6/1/2026] Vicent James Katerega:
Praise God! Maama, thank you so much for asking.
I am so happy to share how God answered our prayers. We started our day very early with all of our children, and we stood together in prayer from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., putting the whole day into God's hands. After our prayers, we began preparing everything and making sure the house was completely ready. Then, we started waiting for our visitors to arrive.
Suddenly, heavy rain started pouring down. Because of the storm, she could not reach us at the exact time we expected, and our hearts were full of worry. We had been waiting and praying so hard, and it felt like we were waiting for a very difficult exam that we could not bypass. But at around 2:30 p.m., I received a phone call. She called to tell us that she was about to reach, and within 30 minutes, exactly at 3:00 p.m., the CDO arrived at our home. She is a woman, and when she arrived, all of us on the staff were a bit worried but very glad to finally welcome her inside. Maama, our house was so clean and everything was set perfectly.
We started from the sitting room, and she began her high inspection very quickly. First, we walked with her into the girls' dormitory. When she stepped inside, she was so surprised because she never expected to see such good things. She did not know that we had such nice bed frames and mattresses. The children had made their beds so neatly in the morning. They do this every single day, Maama, not just for the visitors. After that, we went into the boys' room, and she inspected where they sleep too.
She looked at the rooms and saw that we put solid doors on every single room. When she came the first time, there were no doors at all. She was so thankful to see this change because she said it gives the children good privacy and keeps the boys and girls properly separated. She told us, "Yes, now I can see that you have worked. The children are now safe and they can sleep very well."
Next, we walked from the dormitories into the food store. When she saw the food reserve, she was so surprised and happy. She honestly did not expect to see so much food. She said the children will never go without food, but she strongly advised me to keep buying and storing more. She explained that there is an outbreak of Ebola in our country right now. She told me that because of this outbreak, public gatherings like martyrs Day were canceled this year, and there might be a local lockdown soon. She advised me to keep planning and stocking food so we are ready.
After that, we went outside. She saw the latrines and toilets and was very happy because they were very clean. Then, she inspected our perimeter fence. She was so happy with the work and saw that we used the very strong cement blocks called "99." She told us it is a very strong fence. She explained that keeping children safe is a big responsibility, and this fence benefits us greatly. She mentioned what happened in Gaba and said the government is very suspicious and strict right now because of that incident, so our strong fence is very important.
She then gave us some advice for the future. She noticed the fence was made but we do not have a main gate yet. I told her that I do not have the money for the gate right now. She understood but said that when we get the money, we should put a proper gate and also put surveillance cameras so we can observe the children and keep them safe at all times. She said 100% that we are doing a great job because children's safety is everything.
Then came the best part, Maama She looked at us and said, "Now you are officially known. You are now officially registered." Praise God, Maama ,We passed the exam! Momo is now officially a registered CBO! She then talked to Olivia and told her to always talk to the children, counsel them, and remind them of good things so they never feel lost in life. She was also so surprised and happy that we teach the children faith and bring them to church. She said faith is the foundation of good behavior, and without it, it is very hard to guide children. Before she left, Olivia asked her about government mosquito nets. She told us that the government has a program but it is not yet sent out. She promised that when they get them, they will notify us In the meantime, she told us about a great electronic mosquito repellent that you plug into a charger, and she said it works very well.
Maama, God is good! We did it, we passed, and Momo is official!!!
