In our darkness, God shone His light!!
Here's our story of God's faithfulness this past 8 weeks:
When Sickness Struck ...
Viola, the children's spiritual and educational teacher on the Team, fell ill with typhoid and prolonged malaria. We rushed her to the hospital, and the doctor's words were overwhelming. The bills were piling up, and we didn't know how we'd pay them.
Christine and the girls' caretaker Olivia also got malaria. We felt like we were drowning in worries. We were exhausted, emotionally and financially drained. It was a hard moment, and we felt lost and alone. But then, Maama Sue stepped in, reminding us that "Jesus Cares." She prayed with us, and we felt God's peace wash over us. She encouraged us to trust, to read the Bible and pray, and we did. We asked God to show us the way forward, to provide for our needs, and to heal Viola and Christine.God answered our prayers in amazing ways. Through the kindness of friends, aunties, and uncles - and people we don't even know (yet) - we were able to pay the hospital bills. It was a huge burden lifted off our shoulders. Olivia, Viola and Christine slowly recovered, and we were grateful for God's healing touch.
A Roof Over Our Heads ...
When our rent was coming due, we started to become anxious about how to pay the $200 monthly. Where would we go? In addition to the current rent, we had borrowed money to pay rent earlier, and now we were struggling to make ends meet in all areas (food, medical and housing). It seemed like an impossible situation, and we felt overwhelmed. Again, maama Sue reminded us to stand on God's Truth over our feelings, to be anxious for nothing and trust God. God worked miracles! Our landlord showed mercy, and not only agreed to accept $200 each month instead of asking for 3 months payment all at once (as per the original terms) , he also gave us a separate house so we could separate the boys from the girls. Plus, he isn't charging us the additional $125 for the second house!
We're still praying for provision to cover the rent moving forward, but we're so grateful this month for God's care.
Food on the Table
In June, God provided for the children to have three meals a day! We were so grateful for His provision through your generosity.
We're praying for a three-month food reserve, so we can be prepared for any situation.
Growing in Faith
In July, Pastor Edward was able to secure and get to us Gideon Bibles for the children. We're so grateful for this gift!
We're also especially thankful to Auntie Jodianne, who has provided the kids Bible lessons to learn during the week; there were some lessons even made specifically with our children!! Then, during our Wednesday Family Gathering Aunt Jodianne asks the children review questions - to which they are doing a fantastic job not only learning the lesson, but improving their English as well! She's been a blessing to our family, and we're grateful for her dedication.
Education
They were so excited to receive the crayons and color books from a faithful supporter who jumped through hoops trying to ship them! (Note: We did learn that moving forward shipping things to Uganda isn't the way to go! Aside from the cost, carriers have advised us that more often than not packages don't get delivered.)
Thank You!!
We're so thankful for God's faithfulness and the support of those who care for us. Your kindness has made a difference in our lives. Thank you for being part of our journey! We're grateful for your prayers, encouragement, and generosity. We're trusting God to continue providing for our needs, and we're excited to see what He'll do next.
Love,
James

CURRENT NEEDS AND ONGOING PRAYER REQUESTS
- Food Stability
- Build up a 3 month supply of essentials/food (Approximately $3000)
- Beds and Protection from Malaria
- Several deal with bedwetting, so new mattresses (and mattress protection) is needed.
- While better conditions in their new home, the children still sleep on mattresses on the floor. Bedframes and bedding would make mosquito nets possible.
- Medical supplies on hand
- Government Registration as an official Orphanage
- Thanks to the help of "Uncle Fer" and Pastor Eddie we have Articles of Incorporation drafted up and in review. We're still waiting on the final amount needed to proceed, but anticipating somewhere around $500 (provided the AOI don't need additional work). As Dr Steven reinforced, once they are registered that will elevate the legitimacy and ability to secure donors.
- Educational Materials
- Books, paper, pens, chalk/white board, computer and larger screen (anything!!)
- Grow a base of monthly Supporters to bring stability with essentials.
- Monthly Support to cover the bare essentials of approx. $2000 minimum/month
